ROUTE FILE 05 / CARE

Plan the handoff with a clear head.

Good luggage planning is mostly a checklist: terms, timing, documents, restrictions and a sensible backup.

Travel notebook and luggage tag used for trip planning

Luggage storage is a routine travel task, but it deserves the same calm attention as a train reservation. This guide offers general planning advice, not a security guarantee or a substitute for the actual service terms.

Read the terms before the drop

Check what is accepted, what is prohibited, how the bag is identified and what you need for collection. Look for size limits, identification requirements, booking references, cancellation conditions and the collection window.

Keep essentials close

Keep passports, identity documents, medication, keys, cash, navigation electronics and other essential items with you where practical. Avoid placing unnecessary valuables in stored luggage.

Understand restrictions

Prohibited-item lists may include hazardous materials, weapons, certain batteries, perishables or other restricted goods. The exact list varies. If you are unsure about an item, ask before arriving.

Collection is part of storage

Save the booking or claim reference, address, collection instructions and provider contact details. Confirm whether identification is needed and whether another person may collect on your behalf. Allow buffer time for finding the venue, queues and returning to your platform or terminal.

Build a contingency

Know what you will do if your train is late, your flight changes or the venue is difficult to reach. Check the provider’s process for late collection, but do not assume an extension or refund.

Good for

Any traveller storing a case, especially those with medication, valuable equipment, oversized luggage or a tight onward connection.

What to know

No service should be described as “100% secure”. Review actual provider terms and applicable coverage information.
